Innovators Against Gender Based Violence (IAGs)
Background
UN Women and its partners are seeking Innovators Against Gender Based Violence (IAGs) to participate in a 12 months unique experiential learning, including sharing of knowledge and experience on gender equality, ending violence against women and girls (EVAWG) and movement building. The IAGs will be required to design and develop an innovative solution, with support from the host organization, to strengthen the organisation’s response to violence against women and girls.
This is part of the European Union (EU) and the United Nations (UN) global, multi-year initiative focused on eliminating all forms of violence against women and girls (VAWG) – the Spotlight Initiative. The Initiative brings focused attention to the issue of VAWG, placing it at the centre of efforts to achieve gender equality and women’s empowerment, in line with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
The IAGs will form part of the technical support to organisations and community groups working on women’s rights, disability, children’s rights, HIV, masculinities, SRHR and key populations. They will contribute to building a strong and visible social movement against SGBV and HPs, that is inclusive of women and men from all sectors; those in positions of power and formal authority; women, men, boys and girls in communities; and which includes the voices and perspectives of women and girls who are most marginalized by the intersecting forms of discrimination.
The IAGs will be contracted and deployed by Spotlight Initiative implementing partners in Muzarabani, Rushinga, Guruve, Mbire (Mashonaland Central); Chipinge Rural, Mutasa, Buhera (Manicaland); Hurungwe, Karoi, Zvimba (Mashonaland West); Umzingwane, Bulilima, Matobo (Matabeleland South); and Hopley, Epworth (Harare).
Successful applicants will be taken through an orientation process before deployment to respective districts.
