Overview
The School of Psycho-Social Education focuses on the bio-psycho-socio-spiritual wellness of learners, teachers, schools and the education system as a whole. The School offers the essential biological, psychological, social and spiritual foundations to develop learners holistically – to prospective and in-service teachers, despite the fact that only one school subject, namely Life Orientation, resorts under the entity.
The emphasis of Movement Education is primarily on the healthy biological development of learners, Educational Psychology attends predominantly to the balanced psychological development of the child, Life Orientation accentuates the school subject and concomitant psychological, social and spiritual unfolding of the learner, whilst Learner Support equips teachers to support learners meaningfully who are experiencing barriers to learning.
The School of Psycho-Social Education supports quality teacher education by focusing on the holistic development of the learner and the delivery of compassionate teachers who care, specialist movement, life orientation and learner support educators, and lay counsellors.
