UKZN’s College of Agriculture, Engineering and Science is home to over 9500 students and approximately 800 staff. The College is committed to equity and excellence and over 31 per cent of the staff and 63 per cent of the students are black Africans.
Increasingly, women are excelling in the College and we are proud that 40 per cent of our staff and students are women. In addition, the College attracts students and staff from around the world. Over eight per cent of our students come from 53 countries around the globe. Nearly 2000 of our students are in masters or doctoral studies.
The College operates on the Pietermaritzburg, Westville and Howard College campuses, offering a full range of excellent undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. It comprises five Schools, namely:
- School of Agricultural, Earth and Environmental Sciences
- School of Engineering
- School of Chemistry and Physics
- School of Life Sciences
- School of Mathematics, Statistics and Computer Science
The College is proud of its contribution to the University, country and region. We boast some of the best teaching and research facilities on the continent. Our researchers lead many national and international teams, and support from government agencies and international foundations exceeds R200 million annually.
