In the 21st century, apprehensions about the impact of issues such as climate change, resource degradation, and population growth on the Earth and its environment are escalating and the Department of Environmental Sciences at UNISA is uniquely equipped to deal with these challenges.
We, as an interdisciplinary department within the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, present a comprehensive curriculum with undergraduate, graduate as well as non-formal short learning programmes in the fields of Environmental Science, Nature Conservation and Ornamental Horticulture & Landscaping. The Department seeks to expand the knowledge and skills of our students through cutting edge research, technologically advanced training and service to students’ worldwide but with special niche to the broader African community Emphasis is placed on marketable, real-life skills, creativity, leadership, and a commitment to good global citizenship in order to make an environmental difference and to create opportunities for life-long learning.
