Zimbabwe Ezekiel Guti University (ZEGU) is inviting suitably qualified personnel to apply for the following post;

 

SOFTWARE DEVELOPER (BINDURA) 1 POST

The Software Developer will be responsible for developing, maintaining and supporting university software systems.

Duties and responsibilities:

The incumbent will be attached to the university’s ICT Services Department and will contribute to the university’s mandate through performing the duties and responsibilities below;

• Systems analysis and design

• Developing new software systems and maintaining existing ones.

• Testing and debugging of software systems

• User training and systems documentation

• Responding to and resolving software user queries

• Ensuring that university systems are running smoothly and accurately

• Developing and maintaining the university web platform

• Additional related responsibilities as may be required from time to time

 

Desirable qualifications, skills and experience:

• A minimum qualification of 5 Ordinary Level subjects including English Language and Mathematics

• A BSc (Honours) in Computer Science or related degree from a recognised institution

• A minimum of 3 years work experience with C# and SQL Server databases and Stored Procedures is a must

• A good understanding of Object-Oriented Programming

• Knowledge of ASP.NET MVC, Javascript, bootstrap, Ajax, JQuery

• Web Services, RESTful APIs

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

• Experience at a tertiary educational institution is an added advantage.

• Relevant certifications such as MCP, MCSA, etc are a plus

• Strong inter-personal skills with the ability to communicate effectively at different levels

WORKS TECHNICIAN (BINDURA) 1 POST

The Works Technician will be responsible for maintaining systems and equipment by completing preventative maintenance schedules, restoring, repairing, rebuilding or replacing faulty or inoperative components and parts within the department

Duties and responsibilities:

Meets maintenance operational standards by contributing to the department through performance of building maintenance tasks including but not limited to;

• Minor plumbing, drywall and electrical repairs

• Handset and lock changes

• Grouting, Painting

• General handyman assignments

• Landscaping and beautification of the grounds

• Identify and troubleshoot issues with building systems, such as security, fire system, plumbing

• Perform preventative maintenance tasks in residential accommodation for occupancy and office suites and in common areas

• Respond to emergencies, service request and complete work orders efficiently and safely.

• Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders

• Co-ordinate work with trades and specialists when it is necessary

• Knowledge/experience in performing general building repairs

• Physical ability to carry out the duties of a maintenance technician

• Ability to multitask while working under pressure and deadline parameters

• Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures; complying with legal codes and regulations

• Additional responsibilities as required

 

Desirable qualifications, skills and experience:

• A minimum qualification of 5 Ordinary Level subjects including English and Mathematics

• Skilled Worker Class 2 Civil

• General knowledge in electricity maintenance will be an added advantage

• Class 4 Drivers Licence

• Good written and verbal communication skills

• Experience in general maintenance building management is an asset.

• Knowledge in use of Computers is a prerequisite

• Strong inter-personal skills with the ability to liaise effectively with clients (internal& external)
