HIGHER CERTIFICATE IN
INTERIOR DECORATING

BHC offers an accredited and SAQA registered Higher Certificate Programme in Interior Decorating. The aim of this programme is to equip students with the required knowledge, skills, attitudes and values in order to contribute creatively towards the awareness of well-designed spaces as well as to enhance a client’s brief.
1 Year Full Time – NQF 5
120 Credits
All communication, facilitation, assessments and moderation are conducted in English
Mode of instruction includes lectures, tutorials, practical workplace training, assisted studio learning and industry outings
This qualification provides the student with a strong theoretical foundation in decorating principles and elements, arrangement of furniture and accessories, conceptual development, decorative materials, styles and trends, and project administration.
The student is then required to apply this knowledge when critically analysing the design problem, and to construct a functional and aesthetically pleasing decorating proposal for a range of commercial and domestic interiors, that is clearly communicated (both visually and verbally) and is supported by relevant and documented research.
