The Department of Accounting Science and Finance offers a highly competitive and most popular four year Bachelor of Science Honours Degree in Accountancy (BSCAC) programme. The degree programme focuses on Accountancy as an area of study.

The degree programme offers opportunity to students to cover courses in a business environment characterized by forces of globalization. The study of accountancy as an area enables nurturing graduates who are specialized to manage and direct organisations to function properly. Survivals of organizations depend on personnel who are able to account for each and every dollar, invest business finance, make corporate financial decisions, and craft corporate survival. This programme seeks to:

  • Produce strategic and enterprising accountancy professionals and
  • Create highly qualified accounting professionals to lead the industry into the future.
  • Support the industry by producing innovative and research oriented graduates who can occupy senior managerial posts both in audit and accounting sectors.

Entry requirements

Normal Entry

For normal entry candidates should:

  • Have passed at least 5 subjects at ordinary level including Mathematics and English ; and
  • Have good passes in at least two subjects at “A” level which must include Accounting and any other commercial related subject (s) such as Mathematics, Economics, Management of business, Computer Science, Geography , Business studies etc.

Special Entry

  • Candidates should have at least 5 subjects at Ordinary level including Mathematics and English and a national Diploma in Accountancy or recognised equivalent.
