BTech (Hons) Polymer Technology and Engineering

The programe is designed to give broad knowledge of Polymer Science, Polymer Technology and Polymer Engineering underpinned by the fundamental principles of Polymer Science. The programme emphasizes on giving knowledge of Polymer technologies, to the extent of imparting skills of processing, tool and plant design as well as polymer product development. Graduates will have skills that enable problem analysis and resolving within the scope of creating innovative technologies for polymer processing. The main strands of the programme are:

  4. Polymer Materials & Processing
  5. Recycling and Environmental Protection
  6. Research and Polymer Product Development

Programme content highlights amongst other courses in Polymer Science, Organic Chemistry, Analytical Polymer Chemistry, Polymer Rheology, Polymer Materials and Processing, Polymer Testing Methods, Polymer Composites and Blends, Specialty Polymers, Adhesives and Surface Coatings, Chemical Kinetics and Chemical Reactors, Polymer Recycling & Environmental Protection, Process and Product Design, Industrial Instrumentation and Control, Process Modelling, Simulation and Optimisation, Mould and Die Design, Tool and Die Manufacture, Engineering Design, Workshop Technology, Computer Aided Design/ Manufacture (CAD/ CAM), and Technopreneurship.

Entry Qualifications

Entry requirements for acceptance to this programme are:

At least 2 ‘A’ Level passes in Chemistry and either Mathematics or Physics

OR

National Diploma (ND) in Polymer Science/ Technology or its equivalent.

AND

Candidates must have 5 ‘O’ Level passes at Grade ‘C’ or better with passes in Mathematics, English and Science.
