Step 3 – Submit application documents (within 2 weeks)

Submit application documents via the Online Portal

In this email you will find the login data for the online portal and a list of documents to be submitted:

  • Copies of your passport.
  • Secondary school diploma or graduation statement (see below).

To apply, candidates must fill out the Stenden South Africa Application Form (four pages) and submit several supporting documents:

Step 4 – Finalize your application

Payment (EU students)

If you are from an EU/EER Member State:

  • Check that your bank is able to process international (SEPA) payments.
  • Go to your personal Studielink page and follow the instructions provided.
  • Have you set up a direct debit mandate and confirmed your payment details? Congratulations! Your enrolment is now complete and you are all set to start your course.

Payment and student visa (non-EU students)

If you are from a non-EU Member State, you must transfer the course fees to Stenden; you should have received an invoice for this purpose.

Once we have received your payment and have verified that you meet the visa requirements, we will apply for a student visa on your behalf. After approximately four weeks, you will receive a notification that you can collect your visa from the Netherlands Embassy or Consulate in your country. For additional information about applying for a student visa, please visit the website of the Netherlands Organisation for International Cooperation in Higher Education (Nuffic).

After a complete application is received, candidates will have a personal or telephonic interview with at least two members of the Exam Committee. This interview will focus on:

  • The communication skills of the candidate;
  • The proficiency of the candidate in the English language;
  • The motivation of the student to study at Stenden South Africa.
  • The ability to perform in a learning environment where the student is required to actively pursue knowledge in a group form in educational methods such as Problem Based Learning (PBL).
The following conditions apply to candidates with other profiles:

  • NSC candidates may submit final Grade 11 or mid-Grade 12 results and will be conditionally accepted pending final NSC results.
  • Candidates who qualify with foreign school leaving certificates need to apply to Universities in South Africa to see if they meet the entry criteria to higher education in South Africa. The Universities South Africa evaluation is the candidates’ responsibility and their approval must be obtained before commencement of studies.
  • Candidates with other qualifications aside from school leaving qualifications will be conditionally accepted pending qualifications being evaluated by SAQA. Evaluation of qualifications by SAQA is the candidates’ responsibility and SAQA approval must be obtained before commencement of studies.
  • Foreign candidates defined as mature need not obtain Universities South Africa evaluation but must obtain SAQA evaluation.
The Exam Committee makes the final decision for admission. Stenden South Africa has the right to accept/reject any application and will inform each applicant in writing of the outcome of the interview.
