Union Bible Institute UBI Student Life

As a residential campus, UBI offers the opportunity for students to live with, understand and appreciate people from many cultural backgrounds and expressions of biblical faith.  We are a worshipping community seeking to glorify God with our lives as well as our words. Some of the programmes and opportunities for spiritual growth that you will experience as a residential student include:
Chapel services: Twice a week, students and staff gather for chapel to be spiritually encouraged and challenged. Once a term, we celebrate the Lord’s Supper together.
Khuthazanani fellowships: Twice a month, students meet in staff-led groups for mutual encouragement, growth, prayer and fellowship. These groups occasionally change, giving the students a chance to know many staff members personally.
Mentoring: Each student is assigned a staff member to be their mentor for their entire time at UBI. This mentor meets with the student for prayer and counsel on a regular basis.
Prayer: Students meet regularly for prayer, and there is an active intercessors group. \
Student-led services: Students lead services on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings.
Social events: The Student Council plans social events, sporting events, and occasional outings for students. In addition, UBI plans social events to link the day and evening schools.
Sisebenza Kanyekanye:  Wives of students are encouraged to participate in a prayer partner ministry led by the UBI female staff. Whether they live on campus, nearby or far away, they have a mentor to encourage and pray for them. Occasional programmes are planned for wives as well as for couples.  Wives of graduates are invited for a full week-long programme during the week before Graduation.
