The School of Nursing and Public Health (SONPH), headed by Prof Mosa Moshabela , arose from a grouping of the Public Health disciplines derived from the Nelson R. Mandela School of Medicine (Faculty of Medicine) and the old School of Nursing derived from the Faculty of Health Sciences.
The School consists of 7 disciplines, one from the School of Health Sciences and six from the School of Clinical Medicine.
The Disciplines are as follows:
- Nursing
- Telemedicine
- Family Medicine
- Rural Health
- Behavioural Medicine
- Occupational and Environmental Health
- Public Health Medicine
- Biostatistics and Bioethics and Medical Law
- Traditional Medicine
The Disciplines within this School also contribute to the MBChB programme.
