UNDERGRADUATE BLOCK RELEASE PROGRAMMES: 2023 – 2023

ACADEMIC YEAR
Applications are invited from candidates who meet the requirements for entry into Part I (First Year) of the Undergraduate BLOCK RELEASE Degree Programmes for the Academic Year.

DEGREE PROGRAMS ON OFFER AND ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

FACULTY OF ENGINEERING AND ENVIRONMENT

Bachelor of Engineering Honours Degree in Mining Engineering
5 ‘O’ Levels passes at grade C or better including English Language and Mathematics
2 ‘A’ Level passes in Physics and in any one of the following; Chemistry, Mathematics, Geography, Technical Graphics, Biology.
A Diploma in Mining or equivalent.

Bachelor of Engineering Honours Degree in Metallurgical Engineering
5 ‘O’ Levels passes at grade C or better including English Language and Mathematics
2 ‘A’ Level passes in Chemistry and in any one of the following; Physics, Mathematics, Geography, Technical Graphics, Biology.
A Diploma in Metallurgical or equivalent.

Bachelor of Engineering Honours Degree in Geomatics and Surveying
5 ‘O’ Levels passes at grade C or better including English Language, Mathematics and Geography
2 ‘A’ Level passes in Physics and Maths.
A Diploma in Geomatics and Surveying or equivalent and at least two (2) years working experience.

FACULTY OF LIFE SCIENCES
Bachelor of Science Honours Degree in Animal Science
5 ‘O’ Levels passes at grade C or better including English Language and Mathematics
2 ‘A’ Level passes in Agriculture/ Animal science or Biology plus any one of the following; Chemistry, Mathematics, Geography, Physics, Food Science.

Special Entry

5 ‘O’ Levels passes at grade C or better including English Language and Mathematics
A Diploma in Agriculture or equivalent.
A certificate in Agriculture or Animal science or equivalent

Bachelor of Science Honours Degree in Crop Science
5 ‘O’ Levels passes at grade C or better including English Language and Mathematics
2 ‘A’ Level passes in Agriculture/ Animal science or Biology plus any one of the following; Chemistry, Mathematics, Geography, Physics, Food Science.

Special Entry
5 ‘O’ Levels passes at grade C or better including English Language and Mathematics
A Diploma in Agriculture or equivalent.
A certificate in Agriculture or Crop Science or equivalent

For admission into the Programmes, applicants must be able to accept the following entry conditions:

  • They should be able to pay full tuition fees for their education. The tentative fees, per Semester for the Degree Programmes in the Faculty of Engineering and the Environment and Faculty of Life Science are US$865.The accommodation will be available at a cost of $15 per night i.e a room furnished with a bed and a closet.
  • Breakfast, lunch and supper will be sold in the canteen.

The following information applies to applicants to the Block release Programmes:

  • Applicants should have passed at least 5 subjects at ‘O’ Level at Grade C or better. These should include Mathematics and English Language.
  • Only candidates who already have ‘A’ Levels will be considered. Proof of both ‘O’ and ‘A’ Level results should be attached.
  • A non-refundable application fee of US$20, must accompany the Application Form.
  • The closing date for the receipt of completed Application Forms is Friday, 1st February 2019.
  • Late applications will be considered up to Friday, 28 February, 2019 and will attract an additional fee of US$10, making the application fee for late registration to be US$30.
  • Candidates with a National Diploma or a Higher National Diploma (HEXCO) or other relevant Diplomas and 5 ‘O’ Level passes at Grade ‘C’ or better including English Language and Mathematics will be considered under Special Entry.
  • Classes will be held from Fridays to Sundays twice a month i.e in the first and third week of the month per semester.
