Advanced Programmes:

Advanced Programme (AP) English and Advanced Programme (AP) Mathematics lessons are offered as 8th subjects. These programmes are more cognitively demanding courses that are offered in addition to the core subjects, that is, students take both the core subject as well as the AP course, should they wish to do so.

Both courses are benchmarked against the British A-levels qualification. It should be noted that both courses require a considerable time commitment from students as they are effectively additional subjects that are offered outside of regular class hours. AP English requires considerable personal reading and students should be prepared to come to classes having already read the material being covered.

Grade 9 Subject choice assessments:

As part of the process of choosing subjects for Grade 10, all Grade 9 pupils undergo high-level psychometric testing by the school’s educational psychologist. This takes place in term 1 in order to help both pupils and parents to make more informed and accurate subject choice decisions for Grades 10 and onwards. More in-depth psychometric testing, as well as private sessions with parents, are available on request at an extra fee.
